FIP : First-Important-Priorities
Remember:
Some things are more important than others. Some factors are more important than others. Some objectives are more important than others. Some consequences are more important than others. In thinking about a situation, after you have generated a number of ideas, you can do something about them. After doing a PMI, CAF,AGO, or C&S, you can do a FIP to pick out the most important points: the ones you have you give priority and deal with first.
Principles:
It is important to get as many ideas as possible first and then to start picking out priorities.
Different people may have different priorities in the same situation.
You should know exactly why you have chosen something as a priority
If it is difficult to choose the most important things, then try looking at it from the other direction: drop out the least important and see what you are left with.
The ideas not chosen as priorities must not be ignored. They too are considered- but after the priorities.
Activities:
In doing a CAF on choosing a career, you may come up with the following factors: the pay: the chance of improvement or promotion: the people you would work with; the work environment; the distance you would have to travel to get to work; the interest or enjoyment of work. if you had to pick out the three top priorities from these factors which would you choose.
Do an AGO on buying clothes, books or sports gear and then do a FIP on the Objectives.
If you were organising a birthday party what would your priorities be?
You have lots of things you wish to do in the holidays. Do a FIP on these then a C&S.
You are organising the school assembly. After doing a CAF do a FIP
You are a wet day monitor for the younger children. What are your objectives in this role, which are the most important.
